Why prices look too good
A private jet charter normally costs thousands of pounds per hour. When an offer seems far cheaper, there is usually a catch: an 'empty-leg' flight with unpredictable timing, or a fake listing.
Red flags
- Prices far below market.
- Pressure to pay quickly by bank transfer or cryptocurrency.
- No Air Operator Certificate or unclear operator identity.
- Poor or missing company details, such as no registered address.
- Vague terms on cancellation and refunds.
How to check
- Ask who the operating carrier is, and check its licence with the aviation authority.
- Look for independent reviews and industry membership.
- Request a written contract and clear invoice.
- Use traceable payment methods.
- If unsure, contact the operator directly through its official website.
Realistic alternatives
Premium economy, business class sales and airline lounges give comfort at far lower cost.
If you suspect a scam, report it to your bank and the relevant authorities.
