Day 1Embracing the old and the new

Our first day begins at the magnificent Grand Palace, a masterpiece of Thai craftsmanship. We wander through the sacred Wat Phra Kaew, home of the revered Emerald Buddha. Afterwards we dive into the busy streets of Chinatown, tasting mouthwatering street food and exploring lively markets. As the sun sets, we head to Wat Arun, known for its riverside views and intricate porcelain detail.

Day 2Temples and tranquillity

Bangkok, day 2 of Emily's trip

On day two we set off on a spiritual journey through some of Bangkok's most serene temples. We start at Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, to see the golden statue in all its glory. Next we climb Wat Saket, the Golden Mount, for panoramic views over the city. For a touch of calm, we take a slow boat ride along the Chao Phraya River and enjoy the city from the water.

Day 3The essence of Thai culture

Today we go to the heart of Thai culture. Our first stop is the Jim Thompson House, a museum of traditional Thai architecture and art. Then we explore the lively streets of Sukhumvit, known for its shopping and nightlife. In the evening we watch a traditional Thai performance at Siam Niramit, where tales of Thai folklore come to life.

Day 4Bangkok's hidden treasures

Bangkok, day 4 of Emily's trip

Today we leave the well-trodden path. We start in the narrow lanes of Banglamphu, discovering small cafés, local art shops and hidden temples. Next comes the Chatuchak Weekend Market, a shopper's paradise of handicrafts, clothing and street food. We end the day in leafy Lumphini Park, unwinding among the trees.

Day 5Food and farewell

Our last day is all about Bangkok's food. We begin at the floating markets, tasting freshly cooked dishes and tropical fruit. Then we hop between the city's famous street food stalls, from spicy curries to fragrant soups and sweet desserts. As the sun sets, we say goodbye to Bangkok on a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya, with Thai food and the city's glittering skyline.

As our five days come to an end, we leave Bangkok with unforgettable memories. From the awe-inspiring temples to the busy markets and street food, this city has a charm that captivates every traveller. Join me, Emily Anderson, as we keep exploring the hidden treasures in every corner of this world.
