What to expect in November
In the northern hemisphere, November is the start of low season in many beach towns. Days are shorter, some businesses close, but there are still places where you can find sunshine, swimmable water and good prices.
Reliable warm-weather choices
- Canary Islands, Spain: Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura usually offer daytime temperatures in the low 20s °C. The sea is cooler, but sunbathing is easy.
- Madeira, Portugal: Mild and green rather than hot, better for walking than swimming.
- Southern Thailand's Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi): The rainy season ends around late October or November, but showers are still possible.
- Sri Lanka's south coast: Good conditions from about November to April.
- Egypt's Red Sea resorts: Warm days and warm water, with good snorkelling.
- Caribbean: Hurricane season ends on 30 November, which brings lower prices, but weather can still be unsettled early in the month.
Beach towns for walking and food
If swimming is not the priority, look at Mediterranean towns such as Valencia, Málaga or Sicily's coast. You can enjoy the promenade, seafood and mild sunshine without the August crowds.
Practical tips
- Check the sea temperature, not just air temperature.
- Book refundable accommodation if the weather is a concern.
- Confirm that restaurants and tours are operating.
- Pack a light jacket and a waterproof layer.
- Check travel insurance covers weather disruption.
Weather risk
November weather is more variable than in peak season. Choose a destination with plenty to do indoors as a backup, and enjoy the calm.
Conditions change from year to year, so check forecasts closely before you book.
